FSSAI directs food safety officers to monitor the production process of all vegetable oil refineries and blending units.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide its notification dated 19th August 2020 has advised the food safety officers to strictly monitor the production process of all vegetable oil refineries and blending units within their jurisdiction through surveillance indicators like the presence of glycerine in the oil mills, presence of oryzanol in the mustard oil products.

Further, if the food safety officer seizes any adulterant food product, the burden of proving the adulteration shall be on the person from whom the possession of such adulteration was seized and if any DAG/synthetic oil is found in any oil mill appropriate proceeding shall be initiated against the FBO as per the provision of FSS Act, 2006.
