The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on 31st July 2020 has extended the timeline for submission of the Annual/half yearly returns for all food business operators till 31st December 2020.
FBO’s involved in the manufacturing/processing and importers of food products are required to submit their returns. However, considering the lockdown period, the submission of the annual returns and half yearly returns for the period October 2019- March 2020 and April 2020 to September 2020 has been extended till 31st December 2020.
The extension in timeline acts as a relief for both small scale and large scale FBO’s and also protect them to safeguard their licenses. However, the FBO’s would still be required to submit the annual returns within the extended timeline, and violation of the same may attract prescribed penalty.
