The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide notification dated 21st July, 2020 has issued the draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2020.
The amendment provides that for dairy products, the name of the dairy ingredient used in the product shall be indicated in the list of ingredients, wherever applicable. The amendment also provides an exclusive logo for All milk and milk products to be used on the product label. New parameters are introduced for Milk Fat, Butter Oil, Anhydrous Milk Fat, ghee and Anhydrous Butter Oil in dairy products.
It shall come into force on either 1st January or 1st July subject to a minimum of 180 days from the date of their final publication in the official Gazette.
