The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on 23rd July 2020 has published a draft regulation on Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2020 which shall be in force either from 1st January or 1st July subject to a minimum of 180 days from the date of their final publication in the official Gazette.
Under regulation 2.2 related to restriction on the use of certain ingredient in which, FSSAI has decided to add, that the pulses may contain incidental presence of khesari gram including other edible pulses/grains but not more than 2% by mass.
