Government of Telangana has prepared Cyber Security Practices guide for employees, IT admins, healthcare professionals and law enforcement agencies

The Government of Telangana has issued work from home advisory for employees, law enforcement agencies and hospital care staff in order to prevent data theft and other cyber security issues. 

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, organizations has adopted a full-scale Work from Home (WFH) model. However most employees are not familiar or adequately prepared with the idea of working from home. While IT and security teams are scrambling with various security policies and options to ensure business and workforce safety, the onus lies on the employees as well to follow security guidelines and secure their organization’s information and data.

Therefore DSCI has prepared a simple end-user Cyber Security Best Practices guide for employees. These simple and easy tips will ensure basic security protocols are followed by employees, which in turn can minimize cyberattack risks.

The practice guide advisers the employers/employees to install only licensed software versions of those approved by the office IT team and shall allow security updates to be installed when prompted by the system.

The employees shall perform a full scan of hard drives, pen drives & SD cards with an updated antivirus before using the system and shall avoid sharing official USB drives with other personal computers of family/friends.

For those working in the hospital industry, the management shall Conduct security awareness training and educate the staff about ransomware attacks and shall enable multi-factor authentication on all user accounts.

The Management shall set up rigorous software restriction policies to block unauthorized programs from running and Conduct periodic security assessments to identify security vulnerabilities.
