The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide its notification dated 4th June 2020 has approved a new method for detection of 2 Acetylfuran-3-Glucopyranoside Isomaltol, a specific marker for rice syrup.
FSSAI has decided to reinstate the parameter specific marker for rice syrup under sub-regulation 2.8.3 of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011. The minimum concentration for detection of 2 Acetylfuran-3-Glucopyranoside in honey is 1 mg/kg.
