The State Government of Tamil Nadu vide its Notification dated 22nd May 2020 has published Tamil Nadu Laws (Relaxation of certain provisions) Ordinance, 2020 in which a new section 86A has been inserted which grants power to the government to extend the time limit specified or prescribed in respect of actions which cannot be completed or complied with due to force majeure.
The time limit specified under the Tamil Nadu entertainment Tax Act, Advertisement Tax Act, Tamil Nadu tax on entry of goods into local areas Act, etc. which falls during the period from the 20th March 2020 to 29th June 2020, shall be extended till 30th June or any other date notified by the government.
