Power Purchase Escalation Rates Announced for October 2024- March 25
The Ministry of Power has announced the annual escalation rates applicable for the period from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. These rates will be used to calculate payments for power procured by distribution licensees under various Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). These escalation rates will be used to adjust the payments made to power producers based on changes in fuel costs and other relevant factors.
New Rules for Water Pollution Cases
The rules provide that complaints can be filed electronically, by speed post, or in person. Adjudicating officers are required to initiate inquiries within 30 days of receiving a complaint. The entire inquiry process, including evidence gathering and decision-making, must be completed within six months.
UGC notice on precautions to be taken by the students before enrolling in Programmes offered under Open & Distance Learning (ODL) and/or Online Learning (OL) mode
Students shall register on UGC-DEB web portal with his/her Academic Bank of Credit (ABC)-ID to generate a unique DEB-ID which will be mandatory to enroll in ODL/Online programmes in recognized/entitled HEIs from academic year 2024-25.

Central Government Reconstitutes National Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Board
The revised composition of the Board includes the Chairpersons of the States of Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana as ex-officio members. They will replace Chairpersons of the State/UT Boards of Andaman and Nicobar Island, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttarakhand in the Board.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has invited manufacturers, importers, and industry associations to a roundtable meeting to discuss issues related to cosmetics regulations.
