NOTTO Urges Hospitals to Create Permanent Transplant Coordinator Positions
NOTTO has urged states and hospitals to create permanent positions for transplant coordinators based on their workload by the next financial year. The NOTTO has observed a lack of initiative from states and institutions to create permanent positions for transplant coordinators. Therefore, starting from the next financial year (2025-26), hospitals exceeding the five-year support period under NOTP will no longer receive funding for transplant coordinators.
Nursing Admission Deadline Extended Till November 30th, 2024
The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has announced an extension of the admission deadline for all nursing programs for the academic year 2024-25. This comes as a response to requests from various states seeking additional time for student enrollment. The last date for admission for all nursing programs (ANM, GNM, B.Sc. (N), PBB.Sc. (N), M.Sc. (N), Post Basic Diploma, and NPCC) has been extended to November 30, 2024.
Medical Colleges Advised to Check MARB Final Decisions
The NMC’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has already conveyed decisions regarding new medical colleges, MBBS seat increases, and new/expanded PG courses via email and public notices. Medical colleges are advised to verify if they have received communication regarding their applications. In case of any discrepancy, they can reach out to MARB by email or phone by October 28 & 29, 2024, 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Government Takes Action to Curb Stubble Burning
A high-level inter-ministerial meeting was convened to address the pressing issue of crop residue burning, particularly paddy stubble burning, which significantly contributes to air pollution, especially in regions like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR. State governments of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR presented their strategies to mitigate stubble burning. These include providing financial incentives to farmers for adopting alternative crop residue management practices, such as in-situ management and conversion into value-added products.
FCI Launches Mobile App for Efficient Grievance Redressal For Rice Millers
The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New & Renewable Energy launched the Mobile Application of the FCI Grievance Redressal System (FCI GRS) for rice millers. This digital initiative aims to streamline the grievance redressal process and enhance transparency and accountability in the food supply chain.
