India Removes Minimum Export Price (MEP) on Non-Basmati White Rice
The Government of India has removed the Minimum Export Price (MEP) on the export of Non-Basmati White Rice, effective from October 23, 2024. The decision was made through an amendment to the Foreign Trade Policy, specifically for the HS Code 1006 30 90, which covers Non-Basmati White Rice. The removal of the MEP is expected to make Indian non-basmati rice more competitive in the global market.

One of the objectives of the Circular is to enable listing of new products on the stock exchanges in the IFSC for providing an opportunity to the investors to invest in short term instruments in the IFSC. This will contribute towards development of the capital market ecosystem in the IFSC.
Government Introduces New Medical Textiles (Quality Control) Order, 2024
The order states that Sanitary napkins, Baby diapers, Reusable sanitary pads/ Sanitary Napkin or Period Panties, Shoe covers, Dental bibs/napkins, Bed sheets and pillow covers must conform to the relevant Indian Standards and bear the Standard Mark issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The regulations exempt medical sanitary napkins, baby diapers and reusable sanitary pads/ sanitary napkin or period panties manufactured by self-help groups from the mandatory Standard Mark requirement. Additionally, they also exempt any goods or article meant for export from this requirement.
Guidelines For Import Of Live Seaweeds Into India
The new guidelines outline specific conditions for importing live seaweed, including mandatory permits and phytosanitary certificates. The import of certain seaweed species will be restricted to prevent the introduction of invasive species and diseases. Imported seaweed will be subjected to rigorous quarantine procedures, including inspection, testing, and potential fumigation or disinfection.
FSSAI Introduces Amendments To Food Products and Food Additives Standards
The minimum percentage of milk fat content in Khoa has been reduced from 30% to 27%. The compositional standards for Processed Cheese Spread and Mozzarella Cheese have been revised. Standards for Corn Oil have been added, including specifications for fatty acid composition and other parameters. Additionally, standards have been established for rice flour used in the preparation of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK).

DGFT clarification regarding filing of Annual RODTEP Return (ARR)
Non-reporting of the ARR shall lead to denial of benefits under the RODTEP scheme and no further scroll out of RODTEP claims for the SBS will be permitted at the Customs Port of Export after the grace period of three (3) months i.e. after 30th June.
