Guidelines for Financial Support for Recycling Waste In Coastal Areas

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has announced Guidelines for One-Time Financial Support for Establishing Recycling Plants & Machinery for Abandoned, Lost & Discarded Fishing Gears (ALDFGs) and High Littering Plastic Wastes in Coastal Areas”. These guidelines seek to facilitate and enhance control of pollution in coastal areas.

FSSAI Proposes to Remove Cautions In Iron Fortification Labels

The proposed changes focus on removing a specific statement regarding iron-fortified foods and individuals with Thalassemia or Sickle Cell Anemia. This change was brough about based on a review by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW). The FSSAI has determined that this specific warning is no longer necessary in light of the review conducted by the MOHFW.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has proposed amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011, specifically focusing on pesticide residues. The term “insecticide” has been aligned with the definition provided in the Insecticides Act, 1968. The use of pesticides or insecticides directly on food articles is generally restricted. However, fumigants registered under the Insecticides Act are exempt from this restriction.
