FSSAI Expands Instant Food License and Registration Nationwide
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has expanded its Instant (Tatkal) program for obtaining food licenses and registrations across India. As of August 31, 2024, the Tatkal program has been rolled out nationwide, excluding Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya. The tatkal facility uses digital verification for renewal of licences or registration through specified identity documents.
FSSAI Reduces Testing Fees for Pan-India Surveillance Programs
FSSAI has now reduced the testing fees for all food categories by 50% effective immediately. This reduction is applicable to surveillance programs conducted by FSSAI headquarters. GST will be applicable on these reduced rates as per the orders of the Central Government.

The food safety authorities across the country are intensifying their efforts to prevent adulteration of sweets, savouries, milk, and milk products like ghee, khoya, and paneer. The authorities have intimated the general public of their intension to hold special surveillance drives during this festive season.
NPPA Extends Ceiling Prices for Orthopaedic Knee Implants
The NPPA has decided to continue the current ceiling prices for primary and secondary knee replacement systems. The specific ceiling prices for primary and secondary knee replacement systems will remain unchanged for another year, i.e. from September 16, 2024 to September 15, 2025, or until the next revision.
NPPA Fixes Retail Prices For 62 Formulations
The order specifies the retail prices for a total of 62 new drugs for specified strengths and manufacturers. These prices are exclusive of Goods and Services Tax, if applicable. Manufacturers are required to submit a price list in Form–V via IPDMS to the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) and provide copies to State Drug Controllers and dealers.
NPPA Revises Ceiling Prices for Chloroquine
NPPA has further increased the ceiling price of 1 Tablet of Chloroquine 150 mg from Rs. 1.17 to Rs. 1.33. The new prices take into account a minimal increase based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI).

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India vid circular dates 06.09.2024 has published its updated Panel of Auditors. The auditors included in the updated list are authorized to carry out audit of Digital Addressable Systems (DAS).
Merchant Shipping (Appeal) Rules, 2024
The rules provides that any person aggrieved by an order of the Principal Officer of the Mercantile Marine Department may prefer an appeal to the Appellate Authority. The appeal shall be filed with the Appellate Authority within a period of thirty days from the date of receipt of the order. The appeal shall be accompanied by a copy of the order of the Principal Officer of the Mercantile Marine Department and a clear statement of facts appealed against, the grounds for appeal, and the relevant section of the Act.
