Deadlines Extended For Stricter Air Conditioner Energy Efficiency Standards
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has announced an extension of the deadline for energy efficiency standards for air conditioners sold in India. The original deadline was December 31, 2024 and has now been extended to December 31, 2025. Additionally, BEE has also introduced enhanced standards for the upcoming years.
Draft Environment (Protection) (Amendment) Rules, 2024
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has proposed significant amendments to the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986. These draft amendments aim to enhance environmental protection by strengthening enforcement mechanisms. The draft amendments were published July 18, 2024.
FSSAI Re-operationalizes Food Safety Licensing Amendment Regulations, 2021
The Food Safety And Standards Authority Of India (FSSAI) had first introduced an amendment titled Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Amendment Regulations, 2018. FSSAI, by the present notice dated July 19, 2024, has issued a direction re-operationalizing this amendment regulation.
Iron-Fortified Foods To No Longer Include Warnings
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has omitted the specific label warning for people with Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anaemia for iron-fortified food products. This change was brough about based on a review by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW).
Government Proposes New Labeling Requirements for Drugs
These draft rules propose the inclusion of “details of excipients” on all drug labels. The amendment also proposes replacing semicolons with full stops (periods) after “date of expiry” and “manufacturing license number” to improve clarity and separation of information.
