Punjab Announces New Minimum Wage Rates

On July 18, 2024, the Government of Punjab revised the Minimum Wage Rates. For the period from September 2023 to February 2024, with an average CPI of 396.03, the minimum wage for unskilled workers will increase to Rs. 10,899.82 per month, effective March 1, 2024. This adjustment reflects inflation and rising living costs.

New Date For Hariyali Teej Restricted Holiday

On July 17, 2024, the Government of Haryana updated the observance date for “Hariyali Teej.” Initially set for September 6, 2024, the holiday will now be observed on August 7, 2024.

MNRE Announces Three New Operational Guidelines Providing Incentives And Component Building

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has unveiled several new operational guidelines under the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. These include guidelines on incentives to DISCOMs, to accelerate rooftop solar installation across India. The PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana has also unveiled a component to accelerate rooftop solar deployment through incentives for Local Bodies. Additionally, the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana has launched a Capacity Building program to empower a skilled workforce for India’s rooftop solar revolution.

Tea Board of India Issues New Compliance Directives for 2024

On July 15, 2024, the Tea Board of India issued new directives requiring mandatory compliance from all tea manufacturers. This advance notice is to ensure adequate time for planning. Non-compliance will lead to actions under Clause 5(1)(d) of the Tea (Marketing) Control Order, 2003, which may include penalties, license suspension, or other appropriate measures.
