Unveiling the Tamil Nadu Government’s Role in Wildlife Conservation

Vulture census in Tamil Nadu has indicated that the number of vultures in the state is on the rise, as per the second synchronized vulture census undertaken by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department with participation of neighboring states of Kerala and Karnataka. The first landscape synchronized population estimation was conducted on 25th and 26th February 2023, which estimated the total number of vultures as 246. This survey was carried out in the Mudhumalai Tiger Reserve and the adjoining landscape consisting of Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad in Kerala, Bandipur Tiger Reserve and Nagerhole Tiger Reserve in Karnataka.

Interim Budget 2024-25: Steering India Towards Sustainable Growth

The same tax rates for direct taxes, indirect taxes and import and export duty shall be retained. The tax benefits on investments made by sovereign wealth or pension funds, income of some IFSC units and start ups shall be valid till 31.03.2025. Outstanding direct tax demands up to twenty-five thousand rupees (₹ 25,000) pertaining to the period up to financial year 2009-10 and up to ten-thousand rupees (₹ 10,000) for financial years 2010-11 to 2014-15 is withdrawn.

UGC Public Notice announcing that students can be admitted to an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology and M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work programmes by HEIS till 2025-26 academic session

UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. degree) Regulations 2022, notified on 7th November 2022, discontinued M.Phil. programme in accordance with the recommendation of the National Education Policy 2020. Considering the vital role played by Clinical Psychologists and Psychiatric Social Workers in delivering mental health services, the UGC has decided to extend the validity of M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology and M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work till 2025-26 academic session only, in partial relaxation to the above Regulations.
