LegalitySimplified

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has extended the timeline for compliance with Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) 2020. This notice was issued on 11th July, 2023.

It may be recalled that the RDA 2020 was set to come into effect from 1st July, 2023 for compliance. However, the FSSAI has received representation from industry association requesting an extension in this compliance. The associations have explained their hardships in re-formulation of products and inventory of old packaging materials with Food Business Operators (FBOs).

Hence, the FSSAI has considered these representations and decided to extend the compliance with RDA 2020 for a period of 6 months from 1st July, 2023. Therefore, the compliance with RDA 2020 will be required from 1st January, 2024.
