The Government of Delhi introduced a significant amendment on July 4, 2023, to the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, through a new notification. This amendment brings about key changes in the special conditions for the permit for possession of special denatured spirit by industrial manufacturers.

One of the notable changes in the Delhi Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2023, pertains to the total quantity of special denatured spirit that industrial manufacturers can store at their premises. Previously, the limit was set at 1896 kilo litres. However, this amendment now allows them to store up to 6744 kilo litres of special denatured spirit at one time.

In addition to expanding the storage limit, the amendment also revises the annual authorized possession limit for permit holders. Previously set at 24,000 kilo litres, the revised rule now permits industrial manufacturers to possess up to 64,000 kilo litres of special denatured spirit within a year.
