Extended time limit for recovery of unpaid tax under Delhi GST Act


The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi recently issued a notification on June 22, 2023, announcing an extended time limit for the recovery of tax not paid or short paid, or input tax credit wrongly availed or utilized under the Delhi Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, 2017. Under the notification, the time limit for recovery of tax-related discrepancies has been extended as follows:

  1. Financial Year 2017-18: Taxpayers will now have until the 31st day of December 2023 to rectify any unpaid or short-paid taxes or address input tax credit wrongly availed or utilized for the mentioned financial year.
  2. Financial Year 2018-19: The extended deadline for rectification for this financial year is the 31st day of March 2024. Taxpayers have an additional window of time to correct any tax-related discrepancies from this period.
  3. Financial Year 2019-20: Taxpayers now have until the 30th day of June 2024 to rectify any tax non-compliance or errors pertaining to the mentioned financial year.
