Gambia mandates Pre-shipment Inspection and Testing for Indian Pharmaceutical Products

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has issued a public notice for the implementation of the guidelines for Pre-shipment Inspection and Testing for Indian Pharmaceutical Products being exported to Gambia. This notice is dated 20th June, 2023.

The notice highlights the communication from Gambia requiring the following:

  • pre-shipment document verification
  • physical inspection
  • quality control testing
  • issuance of Clean Report of Inspection and Analysis (CRIA)

These requirements seek to address issues of substandard and counterfeit medicines entering into Gambia from India. The above requirements will be effective from 1st July, 2023.

Hence, the Medicine Control Agency of Gambia has appointed Quntrol Laboratories Private Limited to carry out process and issued of CRIA for all shipments.

Therefore, all shipments of pharmaceuticals arriving into Gambia with a bill of ladding dated on or after 1st July, 2023 will have to provide CRIA for customs clearance at the ports of entry in Gambia.
