5th State Food Safety Index on World Food Safety Day
The 5th SFSI evaluates the performance of states and union territories across six different aspects of food safety. The rankings for the year 2022-23 revealed that among the larger states, Kerala secured the top ranking, followed by Punjab and Tamil Nadu. Among the smaller states, Goa emerged as the leader, followed Manipur and Sikkim.
Vigyan Vidushi 2023 to Promote Gender Balance in Physics
The Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), in collaboration with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), has initiated the Vigyan Vidushi – 2023 program to address the gender imbalance in the field of Physics at the doctoral level. The program brings together 40 women students from various institutes across India who have recently completed their first year of MSc in Physics.

Stock limits on Wheat applicable to Wholesalers/Traders, Retailers, Big Chain Retailers and Processors
The Removal of Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits, and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs (Amendment) Order, 2023 has been implemented with immediate effect from 12th June, 2023, and will remain in force until 31st March, 2024. This is intended to manage food security and curb hoarding and unscrupulous speculation.
UGMEB issues New Guidelines for MBBS Course
The Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) has released a circular setting out comprehensive guidelines for the MBBS course in response to the recently published Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023. The newly issued guidelines encompass various aspects of the MBBS course, aiming to enhance the quality of medical education and ensure the well-rounded development of future medical professionals.
Extension for filing FSSAI Annual Return for FY 2022-2023
All the food manufacturers (including manufacturer-exporters) and importers are required to submit annual return by 31st May of each year. The current notice has provided an relaxation in the timeline for submissions of annual returns for FY 2022-2023, up to 30th June, 2023.

NCL discontinues acceptance of securities as a collateral through approved custodians
It is proposed to discontinue the services of approved custodians for the purpose of pledging securities as collateral with NCL towards security or margin deposits.
