Ministry of Power designates Additional Energy Intensive Industries and Establishments as Designated Consumers

The Central Government, in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, has made further amendments under the provisions of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.

The amendments specify additional energy intensive industries and establishments as designated consumers, thereby subjecting them to energy efficiency regulations. This notification was issued on 6th June, 2023.

The following industries and establishments have been included subject to specified conditions:

  1. Pulp and Paper
  2. Sugar
  3. Chemical
  4. Ceramic
  5. Glass
  6. Zinc
  7. Copper
  8. Port Trust
  9. Dairy
  10. Automobile Assembly Unit
  11. Tyre Manufacturer
  12. Forging
  13. Foundry
  14. Refractories
