UGC notifies regulations for specifying minimum eligibility conditions for the appointment/ promotion of teachers

University Grants Commission (UGC) vide notification dated 25th May, 2023 has issued a regulation specifying minimum eligibility conditions for the appointment/ promotion of teachers and award of Ph.D. degrees. These regulations are mandatory and violations shall be brought to the notice of UGC.

UGC intends to take appropriate measures to curb the violations of UGC Regulations and standing committee has been constituted for the same. Any violations shall be reported to the following address by the stakeholders: qualitv-phd@ugc.gov.in

The Standing Committee will meet at fixed intervals, look into the complaints, scrutinize the documents of HEIs, and recommend appropriate action to be taken by the UGC on the HEIs violating the regulations and all HEIs are requested to ensure that teachers are appointed with adequate qualifications and recommend appropriate action to be taken by the UGC on the HEIs violating the Regulations.
