Guidelines on Professional Responsibilities of Medical Teachers

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has framed Guidelines on Professional Responsibilities of Medical Teachers. These were issued on 3rd April, 2023.

The guidelines intend to emphasise the professional role of a teacher in the training of medical students and other healthcare professionals. It is hoped that teachers will introspect and improve the quality of teaching. This will reduce gaps in learning in light of the expectations of students and society.

Medical Education Unit in medical colleges shall use these guidelines to train teachers. Teachers are expected to be provided with a conducive environment to function at optimal level

These guidelines will be reviewed yearly.
