Draft Quality of Service (Code of Practice for Metering and Billing Accuracy) Regulations, 2023
The Regulations create a Code of Practice for metering and billing accuracy. The regulations, amongst other provisions, also provide for the appointment of auditor for audit of metering and billing systems. The Regulations set forth the process of audit of metering and billing systems and Licensed Service Areas.
RBI releases Compendium on Business Continuity Measures during the COVID-19 Pandemic
This compendium on Business Continuity Measures was released on 17th February, 2023. It was released at the annual conference of the Corporate Strategy and Budget Department of the RBI.
RBI releases ‘Quarterly Statistics on Deposits and Credit of SCBs: December 2022’
The quaterly statistics, inter alia, observe that the bank credit growth was 16.8 per cent in December 2022 as compared with 17.2 per cent a quarter ago and 8.4 per cent a year ago. Growth in credit was led by bank branches in metropolitan centres, accounting for nearly 60 per cent of the total credit by SCBs. There was 17.2 per cent rise in lending; urban, semi-urban and rural centres also recorded double digit credit growth.
NSE publicises notice of ‘Terrorist and Terrorist Organisations’ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967
The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) has published a Circular giving notice of 1 individual and 2 organisations, which have been declared as ‘Terrorist and Terrorist Organisations’. All of the above declarations were issued on 17th February, 2023.
NSE cautions on dealing with Unsolicited Videos and Messages on Social Media
It has been decided that based on the unusual price, volume variation, trading concentration and/or other factors, erring scrips may be shortlisted for surveillance action similar to GSM stage IV. Trading members are also advised to monitor unusual trading pattern by any of their clients, and/or group of clients having significant selling, trading, dealing concentration in relation to circulation of such videos and/or messages.

Comments/suggestions from the general public and stakeholders on the draft regulations shall be submitted on or before 13th March, 2023.
FSSAI guidelines and FAQ for submission of applications for endorsement of vegan logo and formats
The Food Business Operators (FBOs) seeking approval for endorsement of ‘Vegan Logo’ are required to submit the application fee as applicable or as revised by the Food Authority from time to time through the online e-payment portal (Link: https://epay.fssai.gov.in/fps/loadindex). The transaction receipt and invoice generated shall be submitted to the Food Authority as an enclosure to the application.
Direction regarding enforcement of Food Safety and Standards(Advertising and Claims) Second Amendment 2022
The amendment regulation 2 provides that, where the meaning of a trade mark, brand name or fancy name containing adjectives such as “natural”, “fresh”, “pure”, “original”, “traditional”, “authentic”, “genuine”, “real”, appearing in the labelling, presentation or advertising of a food is such that it is likely to mislead the consumer as to the nature of the food, in such cases a disclaimer shall be mentioned prominently on the front of pack of the label stating that this is only a brand name. The enforcement of this provision is extended till 13 June, 2023.
