NMC directs institutes to submit report on suicide, resignation and working hours of medical students.

The National Medical Commission on 18th November 2022, has directed the colleges which has not submitted their report regarding suicides, resignation and working hours of medical students to submit their report by 25th November 2022.

However, the commission has clarified that those colleges who have already submitted the data should not send them again.

NMC constituted an Anti- Ragging Committee which reviews the complaints regarding ragging that it received from medical students and their parents and it also directed the colleges to submit the following information for the last five years:

  • Number of students who have committed suicide during the last 5 years.
  • Number of students who have left College/Institute during the last 5 years.
  • Details regarding the working hours and weekly off given to students.
