RBI warns against use of the word ‘bank’ in some cooperative societies.
It has come to the notice of RBI that some Co-operative Societies are using the word “Bank” in their names and accepting deposits from non-members/ nominal members/ associate members which tantamount to conducting banking business in violation of the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (As Applicable to Co-operative Societies) (the BR Act, 1949).

Government of Madhya Pradesh fixes water rate for agricultural/ drinking and domestic purposes.
The water rate for thermal and hydel power project shall be Rs.0.60 per power unit rate from 1st January 2022, thereafter increase by 02 paise per power unit every year from 1st January for recovery of water after use of water from government water storage schemes such as dams, canals, barrage etc for water supplied to the generating units of hydro power projects.
