RBI issues guidelines on opening of current account by banks.
As per the new guidelines, RBI has given banks time until 31st October 2021 to implement the new rules on current accounts issued in 2020. The regulator had previously set a deadline of 31 July.

It is clarified that only online applications will be received from 2 August, 2021. It is further directed that online payments shall be made by applicants within 24 hours of online application and certificate shall be issued by authorities within 24 hours of making online payment.
