RBI approves Aadhaar-based video authentication as alternative to e-KYC.

The Reserve Bank of India in its Circular dated 9th January, 2020 has brought in amendments to the earlier Master Direction on KYC issued on 25th February 2016 and also notified amendment to the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Rules, 2005. The Reserve Bank has decided to permit Video based Customer Identification Process (V-CIP) as a consent based alternate method of establishing the customer’s identity, for customer on boarding.

Special Economic Zones (4th Amendment) Rules exempts AIFs and MFs from Positive Net Foreign Exchange requirement.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued the Special Economic Zones (4th Amendment) Rules, 2019 on 31st December, 2019. The amendment has provided exemption to Mutual Funds(MF) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIF) from complying with the requirement ti achieve Positive Net Foreign Exchange to be calculated cumulatively for a period of five years from the commencement of production.

CBIC waives late fee for non- filing of Form GSTR-1 till 17 January 2020.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs in its Notification dated 10th January 2020 has extended the last date for waiving late fee on filing of outward supplies statements through form GSTR 1 for the period between July 2017 and November 2019 by seven days to 17 January 2020. Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act Comes Into Force

The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 has come into force on 10 January 2020. The Act intends to protect persons of transgender identity from discrimination. The Act is made enforceable against all establishments, which covers government and private entities, including all companies, firms, Co-operative societies, trusts etc.
